Constrain Stress
After defining the input data for your stress and stability assessment, you can calculate and observe the results in the Advanced Stress & failure > Constrain Stress sub-strip. Contained within the Constrain Stress sub-strip is the UCS/ BO Profiles form, which allows you to calculate the UCS and Breakout profiles that serve as the results of the analysis. The functionality can also be used to constrain stresses when no failures occur.
Unlike using the Get Stress module for stress determination, this module does not use information on failure orientation.
Before proceeding to the UCS / BO Profiles form, note that the functionality can be used if:
- Both the pore pressure and magnitude of Sv are known at a single depth.
- Data on borehole breakouts and/or drilling-induced tensile fractures is available.
- The orientation of SHmax is known.
- The well is vertical or is deviated in a principal stress direction.
If your data does not fulfill these assumptions, you can use the Wellbore stability workflow to perform your assessment.
